Vanilla planifolia:
The seed pod of this orchid is where the vanilla flavor you use in your recipes originates. It is the only orchid that is commercially grown for food.
In nature, vanilla vines root in the soil and the clamber up trees. This is a heavy climber that requires a trellis, post, bench or other sturdy support. A tall wood post works well, but plants do not need to be vertical to bloom and produce pods and can be trained along a rafter or the edge of a bench.
These are well established starter plants currently in 2 inch clay pots.
